Courses and Entry Requirement - University of Health and Allied Sciences

Undergraduate Regular Admission

 WASSCE/SSSCE

Application forms for admission to degree programmes in the University of Health and Allied 
 Sciences, Ho (UHAS) will be available online at uhasonline.com/Admissions from Thursday, February 12, 2015  for holders of the following qualifications;
Those awaiting WASSCE results can also apply.
The University
The University of Health and Allied Sciences was established by an Act of Parliament (Act 828 of December 2011) as a public university in Ghana. The main campus, including the central administration, is in Ho. A second campus is located in Hohoe. 

Undergraduate Programmes for the 2015/2016  Academic Year 
The underlisted Bachelor of Science degree programmes will be offered during the academic year:
School of Medicine
  • Medical Degree (MB ChB)
  • BSc Physician Assistantship (Clinical)
School of Nursing and Midwifery
  • BSc Nursing
  • BSc Midwifery
  • BSc Public Health Nursing
  • BSc Mental Health Nursing (only TOP - UP)
School of Allied Health Sciences
  • BSc Medical Laboratory Science
  • BSc Speech and Language Therapy
  • BSc Dietetics
  • BSc Physiotherapy
School of Public Health
 Bachelor in Public Health (BPH) with the following options:
  • Disease Control
  • Environmental Health
  • Information Science
  • Mental Health
  • Health Promotion
  • Nutrition. 

Undergraduate Admissions Top–Up

The University will run Top-Up programmes for experienced Nurses and other health workers during the academic year. Candidates for the Top-up programme will be admitted to Level 300 of the following programmes:
School of Nursing and Midwifery(Weekends)
  • BSc Nursing
  • BSc Midwifery
  • BSc Public Health Nursing
  • BSc Mental Health Nursing

School of Public Health(Regular)
 Bachelor in Public Health (BPH) with the following options:
  • Disease Control
  • Environmental Health
  • Health Information 
  • Mental Health
  • Health Promotion
  • Nutrition      

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • Candidates with Diploma awarded by recognized Health Institutions and Institutions under the Ministry of Health shall require an FGPA of 2.50 or better/equivalent.
  • Short-listed applicants shall be required to attend a selection interview.
  • The point of entry will be Level 300.
  • A holder of a two year or three year diploma in any Environmental Health discipline with an FGPA of 2.50 or better may apply for Bachelor of Public Health (Environmental Health option).

Access Course

School of Nursing and Midwifery
Access Course is a six (6) week program to enable General Nurses, Midwives, Public Health Nurses, Mental Health Nurses and Community Health Nurses who already hold certificates or diplomas to enrol onto degree programmes in their respective areas in the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. The point of entry will be level 200.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • A holder of a Certificate from any Ministry of Health Training School and other accredited Health Training Institutions who has practised for not less than three (3) years.
  • A holder of Community Health Nursing, Public Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing or HATS Certificate (EN) from any Ministry of Health Training School who has practised for three(3) years or more.
  • A holder of Midwifery certificate Post – CHN and Post – EN, Post HAC Midwifery from any Ministry of Health Training School who has practised for three(3) years or more..
  • A holder of a diploma from a Ministry of Health Training Institution with a final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.00 or better. 

Closing Date for Application (Nursing/Midwifery): 31st May, 2015.

School of Public Health
Application for Access Course in School of Public Health is now CLOSED.

NB:
Successful candidates for the Access Course will gain admission into Level 200 of the BPH Programme in the 2015/2016 Academic year. The options available are  Regular and Sandwich. 


Point of Entry after the Access Course
Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to apply to enter at Level 200 of the Bachelor of Public Health programme in the School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
